Traveling to Italy

I have very fond memories from my childhood of spending summers in my grandmother’s vacation house located in a small town in Italy along the riviera. I remember my parents taking me around the country and spending time in the town playing on the beach and eating delicious food.

This summer, I went back to Italy for 3 weeks for the first time in 5 years. Being 18, I saw the country in a new light and was able to really appreciate all of the unique aspects of the country that I saw in those 3 weeks. Not only did I spend lots of time in the small towns meeting new people and exploring the new culture and areas, but I was also able to travel to the city of Florence and the surrounding areas of Tuscany.

After spending 3 weeks in Italy over the summer and being able to experience the culture and the places, I realized just how special the country is and how much I’d like to travel back again and again. Traveling to Italy is a wonderful opportunity; if you are ever trying to find somewhere to travel or a new country to visit, I definitely recommend visiting Italy.

There are many different parts of Italy that are different from each other and special in their own ways. I’ve been to the popular northern towns (Turin and Milan), Milan being focused in art and fashion. I’ve also been to most all of the towns along the riviera including the famous Portofino and Cinque Terre situated along the beach with warm seas perfect for swimming and picturesque views.

Florence is a wonderful little city focused in art and fashion with many popular sightings such as the famous David and the Birth of Venus painting just to name a few. The surrounding area of Tuscany is beautiful as well as there are many vineyards and other unique sights and aspects to the towns. Rome, being the capital of Italy, is a huge city which holds the Vatican and many other famous sightings and works of art. Other cities include Venice, Naples and Pompeii, all of which I haven’t seen since I was a small child and don’t remember too much of.

I highly recommend traveling to Italy to experience all of these unique places for yourself. The people there are very kind and warm, the food is exceptional, the culture is nice, and the areas are all special in their own ways. My next blog posts will go more in depth about many aspects of traveling to Italy. Although travel expenses are not cheap, it sure is worth it and will provide an amazing experience.
